Russia's war in Ukraine

The conflict in Ukraine, often referred to as Russia's war in Ukraine, began in 2014 when Russia annexed Crimea from Ukraine. This was followed by an armed conflict in eastern Ukraine between Ukrainian government forces and pro-Russian separatists, who were supported by Russian military personnel and equipment. The conflict has resulted in thousands of deaths and the displacement of over 1.5 million people. The international community has imposed economic sanctions on Russia in response to its actions in Ukraine, and several ceasefires have been agreed to, but the conflict remains unresolved.
